Social Media

As everyone knows social media is everywhere, such as facebook, instagram and twitter. Currently, 3 billion people use online social media, accounting for about 40% of the global population. According to some research reports, everyone spends an average of two hours a day sharing, liking, tweeting and updating posts on these platforms. That means 500000 tweets and photos are shared every minute around the world. Social media is around us all the time. In 2011, we analyzed the data through recruitment and data collection, and finally concluded that using online social media can gain more knowledge about physical exercise. (Cavallo, DN & Tate, DF & Ries, AV & Brown, JD & DeVellis , RF & Ammerman , AS 2012 p.532) I think it’s not only about physical exercise, but also about breaking news. For me, I’ve made a lot of new friends with instagram, and I’ve got some friends’ knowledge by sharing my daily photos and my experiences. But social media has more than just benefits. A large number of studies have shown that social media has a negative impact on young people’s lives, especially cyber bullying and its associated negative mental health outcomes.(Mcloughhlin, L & Spears, B and Taddeo, C 2018 p.17)Because any social networking site spreads very fast, some people will publish some fake story. So social media is good and bad, and each of us should use it in the right way, responsible and friendly
